Project Description
PROSOCO, Inc. assisted with restoration of the Montana State Capitol, an American Renaissance statehouse constructed in 1902. The structure is comprised of a 5-story main block of local sandstone with a Montana granite base. Matching east and west 4-story wings were added in 1909. PROSOCO, Inc. worked with architect James McDonald on the project, inspecting conditions and developing specifications for the necessary cleaning and treatments. Sure Klean Restoration Cleaner removed soiling from sandstone and granite walls. Decayed sandstone on and under cornices and above the base was strengthened with Conservare OH Consolidation Treatment. Weather Seal H40, penetrating, breathable water repellent with stone-strengthening characteristics, was applied to sandstone throughout the building. Work was completed in the mid 1990s.
